Preparing payroll and paying bills are additional duties that the Department staff performs. The Department processes real estate taxes and recycling bill payments. The staff maintains fixed asset records for everything the Township owns. Staff members prepare monthly reports for Council on the financial condition of the Township.

The following links provide more detailed information on the taxes that are levied by the Township.

Local Services Tax

Beginning in 2014, Township Council enacted the Local Services Tax (LST) on people employed within the Township.  This tax is currently levied by 41 of the 49 municipalities within Delaware County.  With the enactment of the LST, $52 per year will be collected from each worker in the Township. $10 will go to the Rose Tree Media School District as it has in the past, and $42 will now go to the Township in support of funding Emergency Services and intersection improvements.  The tax will be set up as an incremental payroll deduction throughout the year, not as one deduction in the full amount.

Workers earning less than $12,000 annually are exempt from having to pay the LST. A person seeking to claim an exemption from the Local Services Tax must file an exemption certificate each year.  A copy of the form is available for download by clicking the link below.  It must be completed and submitted, along with W-2s or end-of-year pay stubs, to the person's employer.

Questions about the collection of the LST tax can be directed to Berkheimer & Associates at 610-599-3142.
